PDF Pattern – The Glacier Bag Bundle (2 patterns/3 Bags)

This Glacier Bag Bundle includes 2 complete patterns that will make 3 bags in total. Be sure to scroll to the bottom to find the compete sew-along You-tube videos! Please note: this pattern includes instruction for some “seam binding” to finish inside seams with fold-over elastic. You can watch the videos to see how easy this is to do!
The Glacier Crossbody Bag, is a triple zipper “compartment” bag that features an additional vertical zip pocket in the front, as well as a credit card pocket & lipstick pocket in one of the outer compartments. It has along adjustable strap that extends to 61” (155 cm) long.
The Glacier Base Bags pattern is an intermediate level version of the more advanced Glacier Crossbody Bag*. The mini is made from the outer pockets of the Glacier Crossbody, and the large is made using the main compartment. Both have a long strap that extends to 61” (155 cm) long, and a padded compartment. The large size, which is the quicker make of the two, features an outer slip pocket with a flap closure that snaps shut, and the mini features a vertical zipper pocket. *The Glacier Crossbody Bag is a stand-alone pattern that incorporates the mini and large into one pattern, and is included in this pattern bundle.

Glacier Crossbody Bag Finished Size:
- Width at base– 12 1/2” (32 cm) Height– 12 1/2” (32 cm) Overall Depth– 6” (15 cm)
Glacier Base Bags Finished Sizes:
- Mini: Width at base– 10” (25.4 cm) Height– 10” (24.5 cm) Depth– 2 1/2” (6.35 cm)
- Large: Width at base– 12 1/2” (32 cm) Height– 12 1/2” (32 cm) Depth– 2 1/2” (6.35 cm)
This pattern suits an experienced intermediate to advanced bag maker.
The pattern includes colour digital drawings and full size pattern pieces that include seam allowances for pattern pieces that are not simple rectangles. Cutting instructions are provided for you to use a rotary cutter, ruler and mat to cut rectangular pieces. Pattern instructions are in both imperial and metric measurements.
MATERIALS:
Yardages are approximate and based on 44” (112 cm) fabric. Less fabric will be required for wider widths of fabric.
Glacier Crossbody Bag:
Fabric & Interfacing:
- 1 yd./1 m. Exterior Fabric (quilting cotton, light canvas/duck, décor cotton, cork, vinyl)
- 1 3/4 yd./1.75 m. Lining Fabric (quilting cotton or similar weight woven fabric)
- 3 yd./3 m. Fusible Interfacing (20”/51 cm wide)– Light-med weight fusible woven: Pellon Shapeflex SF101
- 1/2 yd./0.5 m Fusible Fleece (46”/117 cm wide)– Dense needled fleece: Pellon Thermolam Plus Fusible TP971
- 18” x 36” (45 cm x 91 cm) Foam Stabilizer such as By Annie’s Soft & Stable, Bosal-in-R-Foam, or Pellon FlexFoam
Zippers:
- 50” (127 cm) of #5 Nylon Coil Zipper-by-the-Yard
OR:
- (2) Zippers 14” (35 cm) #5 Nylon Coil Zippers that will be cut down to 12 1/2” (31.75 cm) each
- (1) Zipper 16” (41 cm) #5 Nylon Coil Zippers that will be cut down to 15” (38 cm)
- (1) Zipper 10” (25 cm) #5 Nylon Coil Zippers that will be cut down to 9” (23 cm)

- (2) 3/4” (18 mm) Rectangular Rings
- (1) 3/4” (18 mm) Adjustable Strap Slider
- (8) Small Double Cap Rivets (Optional) or appropriate size to match your material thickness.
- 2 1/2 yd./2.5 m – 3/4” (20 mm) Fold-Over Elastic. Note: Self-made bias binding can be used instead by cutting 2 1/4” (6 cm) bias cut strips.
